New Blog Creation Disconnected in Activity Stream

Just discovered this one: after integrating bbPress, my tech guy and I first found that all of the existing blog entires an account had created no longer showed up on the profile activity streams or the site wide activity streams. The entries though were still there.

Creating brand new blog entries would show up in all of those activity places. Creating a new -blog- doesn’t show up on the activity streams, but posting a new -comment- or a new -entry- to the newly created blog does populate.

So basically something regarding the blogs has partially disconnected itself. My tech friend is in England, so he just went to bed, but I thought I’d help him out by asking for suggestions of where to look for the disconnect. I’m assuming it’s something with the tables.

I don’t understand that part above.

New blog creation doesn’t show in activity stream.

“Michael Raburn created a new blog: Testies 3 hours, 44 minutes ago.”

That’s from the testbp site’s site wide activity list. I may have phrased it wrong, but that’s what won’t display on my site wide activity list.

    That must be a feature I hadn’t noticed. :)

If your blogs are set to private the activity will not show. Check Settings > Privacy. It should be “I would like my blog to be visible to everyone…”

Glargh! You scared me there. You are one of the Super Smart Ones. I thought I’d finally lost my grasp on reality, seeing things that weren’t there….

    :-D

Okay, I took a look at the settings. Privacy is set to public, so that’s not it. It’s really weird because that one thing seems to be the only thing the activity stream isn’t picking up.

    lol

There are lots of things about bp that I don’t know about. Helping out around here makes me aware of them. Only Andy knows all and he’s forgotten more than I know. bp is a big place and we aren’t in Kansas anymore. :)

Lemme go dig into it further. Be back.

Wait a minute. Andy doesn’t forget anything. Damn, I’ll never catch up.

If you go look in the bp_activity_sitewide table with phpmyadmin does the entry show up there? What are the ‘date_recorded’ and ‘date_cached’ values? Is your main blog’s date/time correct? System date/time on your server?

If the times/dates are off on the server your blog then bp may think it’s an old rec and just remove it. bp does that every time it display’s sitewide activity. Get rid of the old stuff and then display the new stuff. You won’t get new stuff if it wipes it before displaying it.

All other sitewide stuff is being shown. Hmmm.

Back to the first question. Does the rec exist?

No activity here for three days, turning out the lights in the room.
