New users/My Blogs

    When new users sign up for my BP installation, for some reason they’re all getting tagged as “Contributors” to the root blog. I’ve checked the core files, my theme, and configuration, but obviously I’m missing something. This means that on the control bar at the top, the main blog shows up under a user’s “My Blogs” dropdown.

    Any guidance would be appreciated.

    Change the default WP role to Subscriber instead.

    Login to the WPMU dashboard, navigate to “Site Admin > Options”, change the default role to subscriber.

    I tried again, with both the default role set to “subscriber” and then again with it set to “no role.” Same result: new user ends up as a contributor.

    There is no such role as “no role”. Are you running any other plugins besides BP?
