Newbie to BP

I was searching for a solution to my problem and it seems I’ve found it in BuddyPress. Thing is I’m not sure it will work with my site.

I already have a user registration/login for vendors to purchase and submit listings in the directory. I want to add the ability for brides to sign up and save their favorite listings, and ideally have all the social networking features that BP offers.

Is there a way to differentiate users who login as vendors (contributers) and brides (subscribers)?

Vendors are directed to our sales page to purchase a package in order to sign up. They can login through the main wp login, but if they select “register”, they are directed to the sales page. Would brides be able to register or login for free, without interfering with this set up? I don’t want someone to be able to register for free as a vendor (contributer).

yes but using the terminology you already have, you are really talking about WordPress roles more then Buddypress roles (which actually don’t really exist) some of the functionality you are looking for would probably require something like s2 member to be fully automated the way you describe.

I’m using Paid Memberships Pro? Would that do everything I need? I know, I asked them already but I still haven’t got a response so maybe you’ll tell me quicker?
