No emails, no notifications – but still showing in ‘invite list’

    WP 2.9.2
    BP 1.2.5.2
    Invite-anyone 0.6.7

Not having the redirect to home problem reported in other thread.
Symptoms are that after selecting name that member appears in the main list and the thinking twizzling circle keeps going just before search box and selection input (and also a couple of other random places on the screen); so it seems to be doing something that never completes.

I also noticed that nothing is going into the wp_bp_invite_anyone table (which is presumably why there are no notifications showing up).

    What other diagnostic test/info can I do/provide?

Are you talking about group invitations, or email invitations? Group invitations have nothing to do with the wp_bp_invite_anyone table. If you’re having problems with group invitations, it could be one of a few things:
    - Are you using a custom theme?
    - Are you using a plugin that activates some potentially conflicting javascript?
    - Do you have the friends component disabled?

Yes, group invitations – so I’ll ignore table :)
    - Default theme.
    - not many plugins (BP Group Documents, BP GroupBlog, BuddyPress Group Email Subscription, BuddyPress Restrict Group Creation, wpDirAuth, BP Redirect to Profile for Buddypress); there are a couple of widgets (Members and Groups) – next to each of which the spinning icon appears, the other place is next to the “Your email status is No Email (Get email updates) ” from the Email Sub plugin… Tried deactivating all these, but still nothing.
    - the only component disabled is private messaging (as it’s internal we don’t want members using this instead of email)

What else can I tell you? I’m trying to do this as an admin of the group and as a siteadmin. I’m checking the log files of the server, so there is definitely no email being sent (therefore not junk email traps), but as it’s the notifications not showing either I’m assuming the break is earlier in the process. Is there any debugging in the scripts – I couldn’t see anything on a quick glance.

Not sure what I’m doing wrong. I’ve got a fresh install of WP 3.1 with BuddyPress 1.2.8. I installed Invite Anyone 0.8.3 and it seems that it activated OK. I see the “Send Invites” tab and the form comes up when I click on it, but after I enter the email address of the people I want to invite, I see the green “Invitations were sent successfully to the following email addresses:..” box, but nothing shows up in the “Invites Sent” area.

I have Friends turned off in my BP setup, but I’ve tried it with and without this enabled. I do see the BuddyPress Invitations custom posts in the back-end dashboard, but they all show as scheduled.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I looked through this forum, but couldn’t find a solution that would work.

    Thanks and regards,

So after a long time of banging my head trying to get this to work, I finally realized that no emails were being set whatsoever. This included standard account creation emails or lost password emails. I found a reference (http://wordpress.org/support/topic/new-user-registration-emails-not-sending-out) to a test page for the mail() function that I tried and saw that the function gave a positive response even though no messages were ever sent. I finally found that my mail servers required SMTP authentication so the mail() wouldn’t work. I installed the Configure SMTP plug in and was able to get everything to work just fine. BTW, the WP-Mail-SMTP plug in did not work for me. Great plug in!

I post this in case anyone else is having similar issues.

    Regards,

Awesome, so glad you got it figured out! (Sorry for the lack of response; I was on vacation)
