no usernames?

Hello everyone,

Is there a way for my users to not use usernames? Buddypress is perfect for what im trying to do but I just need my users to use their name instead of username because it seems more professional. I know I can add a profile field for their name but I would like to get rid of usernames completely and allow them to sign in with their email. Is this possible?

The URLs are keyed off the user_nicename column in the wp_users table by default, or it can be switched to use user_login. You could try changing the user_nicenames and seeing what impact that has.

Thank for the quick reply. I was hoping there would be a plugin that I didnt find because I dont really trust myself making manual changes like that. Maybe I should stick to usernames. lol Is there no other way?
