Not displaying latin1 Characters – Buddypress and Ajax?

    Hi !
    Most of the javascript messages are not translatable because they are error message….
    The few things that need to be translated must be done manually in those files. And the few other who already are in the pot file must be treated with attention.

    The probleme with the accented caracters is the charset used by BP: utf-8 This allows iso tables to come with html conteverted caracters. ie what you found in the buddpress-xx_XX file
    But this doesn’t work in the javascripts where you see the weird Äé…
    To avoid this, you have to use octal caracters. This is the only solution i found to have correctly accented caracters in js messages.

    Thanks for the reply, do you mind elaborating a bit on the solution. When you say use octal characters do you mean check for them in the .js and convert where necessary? Could you give me an example of where and how to use it?
