Page plugin?

    Does anyone know if there is a page plugin for Buddypress? I’d like to allow users to create a page for their company, product or service.

    Thanks.

    i am going to make a pages component so i might release it here :)

    Well… you can still make WordPress pages of course and have them show up in the Pages widget… but I’m guessing you want the pages to be associated with a specific blog/profile?

    @Hyrxx – that’s great; I’ll be on the lookout for it

    @David – You’re correct; I’d like users to be able to create pages, but they ned to be “owned” by someone

    I would also like this. On pages made in wordpress can users have the rights to edit them? Almost like a wiki in that sense.

    I’ll be waiting for this as well..

    i think it should be easy, all you have to do is get the user to choose the blog they want the pages to come from, and then display the links on the profile in a widget, the user can edit the pages from the blogs dashboard.

    @Hyrxx,

    In terms of the plugin, I’m not looking to pull pages from a blog, I’d like users to be able to create a brand new page and enter the details themselves. The page needs to be associated with a user (meaning the person who creates it), but that’s it in terms of pulling from elsewhere. It’s the equivalent of creating a profile, just for a company, etc.

    Probably the best thing to do would be to modify the member profile. The challenge is making it available to users as an option.

    Jfcarter-

    You can add a new text profile. Call it “Company Profile”. Give brief instructions in the Field Description box.

    Users can paste their company profile within that field, including some html. This field will then be owned by that user.

    @Jeff,

    I appreciate your help; I’m not looking for the page to be appended to the profile; I want it to stand alone. This feature is more for entrepreneurs who want to advertise their company, product or services and may want a mini community about it. Not exactly like FB pages, but the idea is similar. And hopefully the people in the community can then search the pages for different companies, etc.

    So it’s probably more like a plugin or 3rd party app that can do this.

    If group pages were group-editable… this would be extremely useful for people who’d like to use BuddyPress as an Intranet / collaboration tool. Buddypress is great but it’s mostly just about community… not sharing files, content, photos, collaborating, etc. Now that 1.0 is out though… I’m sure a lot of this will be coming in time… either via plug-ins or new core development.

    Does anyone know how to add the page plugin to the list of requested features?

    Jfcarter,

    Have a look at the pods plugin for wordpress at http://pods.uproot.us/

    I am trying to use it to create company profiles. Maybe we can combine efforts.

    Hi Kunal17,

    This pods thing looks like a great idea. I’m going to look into it and will send you a message once I’ve checked it out.

    Jes
