Possible to get group member and group forum Notifications in BuddyBar?

I know that group admins can get email notifications of a new group member that’s joined but is it possible to allow all group members to be notified via BuddyBar of a member that has just joined the group?
The same for group forum posts? I know that all of my users have a need for something like this. I just have no idea if it’s possible
