Question about achievement count

    @jwack

    I was really hoping that if I set an achievement for accepting 10 friend requests the plugin would go through and give that achievement to anyone who already had accepted 10 friend requests. Same with posts, etc…

    Is it possible to do this?

    If I create an achievement for creating 10 posts and 50 posts, then give a person the achievement for creating 10 posts. Will this person only need to create 40 more posts for the 50 achievement or will they need to create 50?

    I am trying to figure this stuff out before taking the plugin live, so any help would be great!

    Thanks!

  • Hi @jwack

    What you describe in your first sentance is what I call “retroactive achievements”, or rather, retroactive awarding of existing Achievements. It’s not possible in the current release, but I’m trying hard to find a good way of doing it for the next release.

    Regarding Achievements for creating 10 posts and 50 posts. If you create both Achievements at the same time, when you unlock the first achievement, the “counter” for the second (still locked) Achievement is 10. Therefore you’d only need another 40 posts to trigger it.

    Howdy and thanks for the fast response!

    What if I “give” them the achievement for 10? Do they still need 50 posts for the 50 achievement, or do they only need 40?

    I was thinking I could go back and award some achievements for those with a lot of posts. If he already has 10 posts I would give him the achievement. I guess what I am trying to ask is, if you award someone a 10 post achievement, does the “counter” jump to 10?

    Also, one more question. Can we add negative points for an achievement?

    EX: Remove a favorite from the activity stream (-10 points)

    You can already give negative points for an achievement, yes. If you *give* a user the achievement for 10, they’d then need the full 50 posts for the second achievement.
