Rank images not showing
3.0 is going to be huge but 2.9.3 still has to come out frist. Im trying to find plugin that can reduce the number of plugins I need. I have gone from about 80 plugins to 55 and not losing that many functions.
I’d also like to cut down on the amount of plugins used & was thinking about adding the CubePoints bits to @xberserker‘s plugin so it no longer relies on another plugin. This way, we can clean up some of the code & fix any issues like the rank images/WP3.0 stuff ourselves aswell as adding donations to the activity stream/notifications and so on…
@xberserker let me know if you want to work on this with me.
@thekmen I’m open to this, but I don’t want to lose any of the features that CubePoints already has. Plus they have a invite feature in beta and another thing I’m not sure if I should talk about yet.
@thekmen I like that idea maybe after they bring out the new system you guys could look into that. Just remember that as soon as you switch off you wont get there updates or there support after wards. If you can pull it off and make it even better then go for it. I’d support this plugin before I support cubepoints.
@xberserker we wouldn’t loose any functionality, just convert what is already there to the BuddyPress way & add BuddyPress notification & stream functions, however I don’t know about CubePoints future plans… email me them if you can?
@josh101 the reason I suggested it is I think we can make it even better for a BuddyPress points system if we start from scratch, if you use the latest beta, most of the work is already done.
@thekmen I’ll send you some info. Please don’t share it here yet.
My point page is acting up.http://www.techtronic7.net/members/admin/cubepoints/points/
Very odd. Works fine on my single WP install. I’ll try some things. Do you have logs enabled in CubePoints?
Just curious did you try the 1.7 Beta? If so did it happen in the beta?
Go to this file:
Go to line 60:
Replace it with:
Let me know what happens. Keep the php in front of it though. I can’t post that in the forums any more .. Get’s stripped out.
I just updated to 1.7.1 and checked it out. So no nothing has been change it all default
Just a FYI the next CubePoints update will include the rank images path fix that @hnla found a fix for.
That’s good, I’m guessing we’ll still need to keep the fix for DB prefix available for those using WPMU until such time as WP 3.0 is released and cubepoints updated, it might be easier for people if it the amended file was made available?
can you do a paste bin with that fix again? I can forward that to them.
Thing with this fix is – as inelegant as it may be – it’s essentially a check on which type of WP install is being run so should work for either WP or WPMU and I would guess probably hold good for WP 3.0
Thanks I sent that off to them. I’ll make a sticky post with that info as well.
Thanks for the fix @hnla. One thing, I’m still getting the error at the top but now the “points” page is still showing.
The error at the top you refer to I presume is the division by zero one?
This is a an issue (or two) that was discussed on the 1.7 thread iirc essentially there are two fixes (until such time as permanent solutions put in place) either one can suppress the warning using the ‘@’ before the line/s in question to kill the error warning message or one can enter a value for the paginated links, however although that will correct the warning AND kick the page paginate links into view at present they do not correctly paginate.
Best to check the 1.7 thread and if it’s still not clear what to do drop a comment in that thread and I or one of the guys can clarify further.
@Gpo1 which fix? some of the issues to date have been related to the cubepoint parent plugin namely the original incorrect db call to display the top points list and the inability to display the rank image under CPBP on profile pages.
The Cubepoint parent plugin is clearly not under xberserkers control, the fixes have been passed on and the image solution implemented in a point release while the incorrect DB call for WPMU users has not been as the CP developers have stated their intention not to deal with this aspect until WP 3.0 is released (a mistake in mho)
The fixes for the issues relating to CPBP 1.7, division by zero, no points display in profile page, and no pagination links are understood , there are workarounds to fix two of these but I don’t think it advisable at this stage to include them in an actual version release point or otherwise, they remain at the moment fixes that should be applied manually. The thread on 1.7 explains how to implement them or hold fast and wait for the guys to verify the best solutions and release as point update.
