Remove achievement unlock announcements from site-wide activity

  • Latest version of WordPress, Buddypress & Achievments Plugin.

I am looking for a solution to this. I have hundreds of members on our site at http://4villains.org, and our global activity stream gets extremely cluttered with achievement unlock announcements. Is there a way to turn this off, so that the achievements unlock announcements only show in the users personal activity stream within their profile and not in the site wide activity stream?

  • I’m not sure. Activities do have a hide_sitewide column in the database table, but that can have more affect than just hiding items from the main activity stream. You could try setting hide_sitewide=1 in one of your achievement activity items in the database, then view it on the site — with several users (logged out, logged in, admin, achievement owner, etc) — and see if changes the behaviour in a way you’re happy with.

If so, I think there’s enough filters we can change to make new records have this default set.

Where might i put the “hide_sitewide=1″ code exactly?
