request for subdomains support

  • Hi.

    First of all, BuddyPress looks very ambitious. It’ll definitely be my first choice for community system.

    I’m requesting for subdomains support.

    So far I could only install one central BuddyPress for my whole WPMU enabled websites. Since I would still like to use WP themes for the maindomain.com, I’ve chose live.maindomain.com then had to add

    define ( 'BP_ROOT_BLOG', blogid# );

    on wp-config.php.

    I wish to see either a seperate BuddyPress activation per subdomain websites, OR

    group enabled with subdomains.

    If I wanted to give people a website each, using BuddyPress and it would be a dream come true if I can make

    people1.maindomain.com

    people2.maindomain.com

    then giving them seperate BuddyPress with unified user DB.

    I guess what I’m looking for is BuddyPress MU.

    Thank you for the great program.

    This is what you’re looking for:

    Allow BuddyPress to function on multiple blogs of a WPMU installation, not just on one root blog:

    define ( 'BP_ENABLE_MULTIBLOG', true );

    I haven’t tried this out though, but should work!

    … except for the “separate” part. BP currently does not have multistie support. It’s the same BP across the entire thing.

    Thanks for adding that info, andrea_r!

    If you want to have a regular theme on domain.com and bp theme on bp.domain.com, if you have multiblog=true, when you go to domain.com/members, you’ll break. You’d have to have a bp enabled theme on all subdomains. That’s what kills that option for him.
