there should be away to build out a form based test with this plugin for each assignment which when submitted could be evaluated based off of simple math yes/no, multi choice etc.. and another type of test that requires the teacher to actually grade. The form based test should allow unlimited questions/answers(all multi choice but randomly generated question with its array of answers so that each test is unique)
Each coarse/assignment(which will help them evolve) should also have the ability to build a survey to each that take it which is built via a form build tool and can keep track of stats of the results of each survey from built.
Thanks @anaxent.
I agree with most of what you wrote, some of the requests are already added.
We use a bugtracker/features list at
http://github.com/scholarpress/buddypress-courseware/issues
I will move some of the features from here to there from time to time.
P.S.: Stick-ed this topic.
I’m not sure whether this is a feature request or just a configuration question, but my situation is this: I run a 12-week course at the university (one day a week). There are readings for each of the 12 classes. I put the 12 classes into the calendar, as 12 schedules, but the description is compressed to one line, so I can basically only use it for the title. I notice the calendar viewer does show assignments’ due dates, so I can add a class as an assignment, and thus get a page for each class, which is finely connected to the bibliography.
Wishlist:
- an individual schedule should have both a title and a description field, and it should be possible to connect the schedule to an assignment.
- the calendar viewer doesn’t show the title of an assignment, only the description. Would be nice to also show title.
Ok @gotze, so you want to have the title for schedules.
What about your setup, you can enable the European Learning Style, so you will be able to create multiple courses inside a single group. Then just add assignments for the courses you need to have assignments. Assignments can be linked with a course. Also, assignments are shown inside calendar, and have titles. I think the problem is solved
Added titles for schedules:
http://buddypress.org/community/groups/buddypress-courseware/forum/topic/assign-a-teacher-to-a-course/
To link schedules with assignments, I recommend you link the course with it, and just specify the assignment in schedule description.
1. Apply to be a teacher in the registration process
2. Include a button for parent, and if this is checked, further options appear where a parent then flags user/s as their child/ren. Based on acceptance from the child, this would give the parents access to student grades. These could show up in the parent’s profile, for example. Links to work produced online could also be available in the parent profile. A space to comment on specific work on the above parent profile would also be useful.
3. Gradebook:
An option to flag users in the group as not being part of the gradebook at all (like teachers and parents)
An option fo flag students whose grades are already entered that they are still part of the gradebook, but not shown, with an option to show them later once all the marks are entered.
Only when there is a change of marks should that result be email to that specific user. At the moment all my students are being mailed even though they are already graded
It would be great if “a grade out of” could be included with the numeric option with the percentage calculated. Ie, if a student got 5, the grade could read “5 out of 10 (50%)”
1. Yes, this was discussed already and will be considered asap.
2. I would simplify everything, by creating pages with access keys. This way students can email/IM the link to anyone who has the key. Adding the parents layer most likely will burden the workflow.
3. Teachers are already excluded from gradebook (at least I know It was). You’re right, the notification system for gradebook is a bit stupid, and needs improvements. I would consider the “a grade out of” feature only when the static gradebook pages are ready with access keys.
Thanks a lot for suggestions.
A greate plugin and a proposal for future versions:
Make the response on an assignment editable for the student. The student may close/send the response whenever he/she wants to. Add a Close or Send button to the response function.
Sounds ok, will be considered.
The responses need a rework, besides your proposal, there’s a request to integrate responses with grading.
Thanks.
So after working with this plugin for a little bit now I noticed if you are a teacher you can not also be a student and if a student you can not be a teacher.
It would be nice to allow a user to be a student for one coarse but the teacher for another …vs. I have personally not been able to find this functionality.
Another great function would be the possibility to create working groups within a course (US model). These groups should be able to response on an assignment as a group and working group members should be able to share a workinggroup-forum …
@anaxent, please check this option:

@Thomas:
The groups are mainly handled by BuddyPress, so such a request would require sub-groups functionality from upstream.
Thanks.
adding images to quiz questions and making quiz questions be randomly shown (for kids who sit in close proximity to each other) would be fantastic features.
@Stas
Following your advice I´m here with a sugestion/request
Certificate
I´d love to see a kind of completion certificate implemented upon completion and approval based on a minimum grade.
