[Resolved] BuddyPress not loading in MySQL, registration not working

    I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled BuddyPress twice now and it’s still not working. I checked the MySQL database and found that there are no BuddyPress tables in there.

    Meanwhile, I can’t register as a new user, just log in as admin.

    I’ve got the latest versions of WP and BuddyPress and the theme is iTheme2 on snazzymob.com.

    This is for a client so I need this sorted today, if possible.

    Please bear in mind that this is a volunteer support forum not a service :)

    Based on the info you have supplied it’s going to be pretty hard to help. Is WP installed correctly? can you register a user under WP (forget BP for the moment and I see you say you can log in so that answers that question WP is installed) if you can and your DB does actually correctly function then activate BP – if you have installed it via some auto install avoid that and upload a fresh copy via ftp or similar.

    And have you set ‘Anyone can register’ to yes?

    I’ve screwed up somehow, but how?

    and you are trying registering on the plain vanilla WP install, which suggests something is not quite correct but hard to say where or what. you have installed via ftp upload or unzipped WP files it’s a not a one click install type thing as those are fairly notorious for causing issues. Can you do normal WP type activity i.e create pages and posts, does the site other than registering perform correctly. When you say can’t register what actually happens in the attempt to.

    I’ve got a white page of doom at the moment. I’m going to pull the whole thing down and reinstall is using the BuddyPress theme. I really appreciate your help, Hugo. Bear with me. I’ll let you know if this works because I’ll know if it’s the theme or something else.

    Just install WP and use the standard WP theme , ensure WP works before adding any plugins or themes, when WP works correctly then you can progress to BP using default bp theme and test that that works.

    It was the theme. Don’t use iTheme2 with BuddyPress. It won’t work.

    Not a problem glad you have it pinpointed. There are quite few themes that mercime has run through and template converted which may help out with BP compatible themes you find the list in the codex.
