[resolved] couple of issues with 2.1?

    Hi @DJPaul,
    just a few issues I am having, not sure if it’s my set up though.

    plugin wouldn’t update from the WP plugins menu, said current version was already installed. Had to delete last version & then try again from plugin installer which worked.

    On the emails screen, when I pick an email from the dropdown, the email text boxes never show so can’t be customised.

    any ideas?

  • Hi
    The first thing sounds like something specific to your install, and the second probably suggests a javascript error of some sort. I haven’t touched the email stuff at all in 2.1, so not sure why it would break now. Did the previous version work for you with respect to this? Also, is there any error message in your browser’s javascript console?

    just checked in firefox & get this error in the console,
    Error: jq is not defined
    Source File: http://xfactor-updates.com/wp-content/plugins/welcome-pack/includes/js/admin.js?ver=2.9.2
    Line: 3

    will try disabling plugins & see if that helps.

    Thanks @DJPaul,
    I wasn’t loading the BuddyPress global.js in the admin of my custom theme, now sorted.

    Hurrah :)

    I am having the same problem. I disabled all plugins to no avail. Using latested version of WordPress 2.9x and latest plugin. I had the same problem with last version too. Which js needs including in what? Do I really need to mod the default admin theme to get this to work?

    Ok – bit the bullet and had a hunt. Added the following to admin.js at the top of the file to rewrite the selector. My theme must have been using noconflict() somewhere

    function jq(selector){
    return jQuery(selector);
    }

    @DJPaul hey paul, I can’t see the tabs and it doesnt work. I tried to load admin.js but nothing happened. I also checked global.js I dont know whats wrong. I cant change anything from the admin panel.

    alice, what theme are you using and what version of buddypress?

    @rjshuttleworth thank you, adding your code made mine work. I was having the same issue (dropdown was not showing editable area below)

    Adding this to the top of /plugins/welcome-pack/includes/js/admin.js worked perfectly.

    function jq(selector){
    return jQuery(selector);
    }

    I’m using bp-default and 1.2.4.1 version of bp.

    FYI I have changed jq to jQuery() in the next release onwards of Welcome Pack to improve compatibility with a wider range of themes. Thank you all for feedback.

    …confirming that the Welcome Pack admin JS issue also exists with GenesisBuddy including their 1.2 beta, and that the addition from @rjshuttleworth resolves that. Thanks all and especially @DJPaul BG

    You’ll be glad to know the next release of Welcome Pack, I’ve changed how I do this in core so you won’t have to edit the files :) Hopefully will have time to release it in a couple of weeks

    I have a similar problem. Adding the function jq code above allows my Welcome Pack admin page to load a bit further, but then it gets stuck at line 1054 in global.js, in bp_init_activity:
    jq.cookie( ‘bp-activity-oldestpage’, 1, {path: ‘/’} );
    The error is ‘jq.cookie is not a function’
    Any ideas for a fix? Thanks. (Strangely I don’t have any problems with my local install, only my remote install. Same code.)

    The jquery snippet looks to be conflicting with some aspect of Buddypress’ on your site

    Are there any changes I could make to the plugin to avoid these clashes? I’m using WordPress 3.0, Buddypress 1.2.5.2 and the default theme, so I’m at a loss as to why it’s not working. I’ve tried disabling all the other plugins too, and using a different BP theme.

    I seem to have fixed it by commenting out the ‘Latest news from the author’ metabox. The problem with the RSS feed seems to be breaking the plugin (for me at least). Still getting the same errors re. jq.cookie, but they don’t seem to be fatal any more…

    Latest episode – removing the original fix, the jq function snippet, has fixed the jq.cookie errors. The original problem seems to be have been down to the RSS metabox.
    Now I have the problem that the bp_core_activated_user hook doesn’t seem to be firing, so my welcome page isn’t working :(

    Are you using any skip registration plugins?

    I’m using an LDAP plugin which I’ve customised. Maybe that’s the issue. Would that bypass the hook? I wonder if there’s a WordPress hook I should be using instead?
    On first-time login, my LDAP setup creates a user and a user blog.

    Using the wpmu_activate_user hook instead of bp_core_activated_user seems to work.

    Hi can somebody help me with buddpress. My buddypress site is having conflict with the theme. I am using stufe wordpress theme. The ajax is not functioning in members and activity page.

    Response is highly appreciated

    What does that have to do with Welcome Pack? Make a new thread please :)
