[resolved] Migration from Joomla leads to user being able to change admin password

  • I am currently trying to migrate old users from a Joomla 1.5 site to a Buddypress community. Migrating posts is easy, but the migration of user passwords is a drag(Joomla uses MD5 encryption).
I solved this issue by using the “Joomla/Mambo to WP Migrator”-plugin(which was awesome!).

However, while testing out the migrated user-accounts, it turned out that when a migrated users wants to change his password a popup window appears. It asks which admin account the user wants to change the password for. If the user clicks “cancel”, the password will be changed and admin password remains. If user does not, both admin and user password is changed. This is obviously not very good.

I tried disabling Buddypress and changing the password via backend for user profile, and the problem disappeared. So i think the issue is related to Buddypress somehow.

Does anyone have any idea why this happens, or how to fix it?

I am using up-to-date versions of BP and WP.
    Installation is in root.
    Running on Apache server.
No changes other than URLs in bp-custom.php

    The plugin is here:
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/joomla-to-wordpress-migrator/
I have checked user group in the DB, and that does not seem to be the problem.

  • Okay, i found the problem. I was in panic when i wrote the first post, and it turns out i found the problem. A popup saying “Please confirm which user you are changing password for” was the issue. In my stupidity i panicked and posted, thinking this was a WP/BP issue. Turned out it’s FireFox’s password-function, and has nothing to do with WP or BP.
