Set A-Z list and query

Hi!
I’m trying to set A B C D E F G H I J L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z list and querys for respective user First Letter.
I’m lost. I tried <?php if ( bp_has_members( bp_ajax_querystring( ‘members’ ) . ‘&type=alphabetical’) ) : ?>
and this only order by alphabetical. how i can list the members for first letter?
I’m using Atlas directory theme and Buddypress 1.9.2
