OK, so I feel a complete ****.
My forum was not working because I did not install bbpress. So now I want to know how to install bbpress on my WPMU & buddypress install with fishbook theme.
I have read a few different install instructions and they talk about using the sub dir “forums” for the install, but my fishbook theme already refers to “forums” through the theme. So if I make a dir “forums” it messes with my layout.

Do I install bbpress in “root/forums” or “root/wp-content/themes/bp-default/forums or somewhere else?

For that matter does anyone know of well documented installation process for forums that I can refer to?

@hkcharlie – You do not have to create subdirectory nor upload bbPress to get the BP group forums going, Go to dashboard – BuddyPress > Forums Setup – and install by following instructions. bb-config.php will be automatically generated.

You know I thought that with other test installs that I’ve done and I’ve done that forum install from the dashboard many different ways and everytime that I try to make a forum post and click post, it goes back to the virgin forum it always was to start with.

what am i doing wrong?

Could someone please help me, the forum just isn’t doing anything.
I got to forums setup and setup a new install and it says that it completed sucessfully and settings are saved to my bb-config.php but the forum just does nothing.
I enter a new topic and click post and it goes back to the start with no post, no error, no nothing.

I ran into s similiar issue when I installed the first time, If the Group was created before you added/installed the forum option, you will NEVER get a forum to show… My resolution was to Delete the group and re-make the group… Then the Forum options appeared within the group… don’t know if that helps…

As said: I deleted all groups, setup a group and created a forum post before anything else and it worked first time.

I think that is something that needs to be fixed in a BP next release update…

I had high hopes for this solution (after 2 weeks of searching), but it just isn’t working for me. Any other ideas anyone? I’m using wp 2.9.2 and bp 1.2.4.1.
