Switch between mobile and regular theme
-
Is there a way to allow users to view the normal theme on their mobile device if they wish? Preferably a way to switch between mobile and regular theme when they’re viewing the site.
Awesome plugin!

Bump
Part of the issue with this and using normal theme switching plugins is that (as far as I can tell) WP thinks it is using your active theme when it is actually using your Mobile theme.
So none of the theme switching plugins allow you to select the active (full site) theme, because it think it’s already using it.
Any idea?
This will be added in the future
Hi @modemlooper – thanks for you reply. How far in the future are you thinking?
I know WPtouch has a switcher. Can that be used with a little hacking?
It could but I’m not using cookies and WPtouch uses cookies to remember. There was a problem with BP, cache and cookies. So, I scrapped it at the time.
this wouldn’t work with my site and I’m proper gutted

my site is mobile orientated and can’t even activate a mobile theme successfully
ironic or what lolIs there a way to make all mobile devices by default go to the regular theme and they can click on the switch link if they want go go mobile?
@RedeemedMedia Did you manage to get the plugin working ?
is there anyone that’s currently using this forum able to help me with this plugin
I’m using wp 3.1.4 and my bp is the one before the recently available upgrade.(default)
Yes the plugin is working fine for me. I just need to make it so users can switch to the mobile theme if they choose to.
Is there a way to make all mobile devices by default go to the regular theme and they can click on the switch link if they want to go mobile or I can setup a subdomain like m.mydomain.com for the mobile theme?
Thank you for any help!
ok I just realized that this plugin will only work with certain models of smartphone, blackberry curve excluded so no point in continuing this mission.
It’s no longer compatible with the latest version of wp either so a double knockback

Is there a way to make all mobile devices by default go to the regular theme and they can click on the switch link if they want to go mobile or I can setup a subdomain like m.mydomain.com for the mobile theme?
Thank you for any help!
Just go to the array and add the devices which you want. Very easy to do.
in buddypress-mobile.php file you will see $useragents = array
You can add other phones to this list, however, this plugin is mainly for webkit browsers

Blackberry Curve user agent is BlackBerry8330
I would like you to create the modifications to make the site to be on a sub-domain. Like m.example.com.
This would be helpful because when I modify the main site. I dont want these changes to be on the mobile site. Is it possible to donate or freelance you to create this??I don’t think that would be currently possible. BP may allow two installs on one domain in the future. You see a sub domain is another domain and the links would be entirely different. How would it know where your profile is? http://url.com/profile and http://m.domain.com/profile are two different sites.
@modemlooper – your comment about moving to a web app rather than a theme makes me so happee.

Some of our users were accustomed to using Tapatalk on our old forum but I didn’t like it so much because users have to pay in order to post and also I don’t like traditional forums

If you want lots of Beta testers we’re ready and willing.
