    Hi devs,

i have a question about localization syntax:
what is the “good” string for some phrase in BP ?

    For example
Viewing blog %s to %s (of %s blogs) OR Viewing blog %1$s to %2$s (of %3$s blogs) ?
This is changing.from version to version without really reason in my point of view…

Actually in trunk whe have %s and in 1.2 branche we have %1$s.. this is really anoying for translation to work correctly.
Please decide once and for all what to use definitly !!!

    Thank you ! ;-)

  • Trunk is cutting edge and will almost always be newer than the branch. This will be more true when we get closer to BuddyPress 1.3. What you comment on is an example of an enhancement that is in trunk for BP 1.3.

The %1$s syntax is called argument swapping and is best as it lets a translator change where a word or value is substituted to accomodate languages where sentence construction is different.
