    I just installed BP Group Reviews, today. I’m getting “The page isn’t redirecting properly” when I:

    1. Create a Group > Fill-in > Create Group and Continue
    2. Settings > [Unchecked] Enable discussion forum and [Checked] Enable group reviews > Next Step
    3. Avatar > Finish

    It delayed about 20 seconds then “The page isn’t redirecting properly” show-up. The URL looks like this:

    site.com/blog/groups/blue-sky////////////////////

    I see the item Blue Sky link is in Groups Directory but when I clicked the link it gets an error “The page isn’t redirecting properly.” It happened every time when create new group [reviews].

    Is this a bug?

    It works fine when “Enable discussion forum” is checked.

    Thanks, Mikey3D

    Edit: Add [reviews].

    Does this happen when the Group Reviews plugin is not activated? It sounds like it might not be related.

    I have not deactivated BPGR. Do you want me to deactivate it? If so what would you like me to do?

    Thanks, Mikey3D

    I noticed this doesn’t make sense when after I finished step one, I see the item link appear in Group Directory and I haven’t go through finished step 3 to complete it.

    Is that normal?

    Can you be more specific, transparent? It’s just a bug.

    You might be right that it is a bug with my plugin, but even if you are there is no way that I can be more specific than that at the moment.

    In order for me to figure it out, I will have to try to reproduce the error. Since it didn’t happen to me on my test installations, there is a good chance I will have to try lots of different things in order to reproduce it. If I am able to reproduce the issue, I will have to spend time figuring out why it’s happening. Then I will have to write code in order to make it not happen anymore. I will do all of this for free and out of the goodness of my heart and for the love of BuddyPress but I cannot do it right now this second, because I have client work to do.

    In other words, I will have a look at it as soon as I can. If you figure out the source of the problem in the meantime (or better yet, a patch that fixes it), please let me know.

    I found the problem. Here’s what happens:

    I turned all buddypress plugins off and the problem is the same.

    I installed the fresh new WordPress, BuddyPress and BP Group Reviews – and comparing the productive site.

    I noticed the one that is missed “4. Invites” in productive site when create a group. I thought, hey, I should take a look in:

    BuddyPress Component Setup > Friends > Disabled

    I had disabled friends and now I enabled friends. It works! The reason I turn disabled friends because I use plugin BuddyPress Follow and BuddyPress Private Messages for Followers Only.

    Whew, what can I do?

    Thanks, Mikey3D

    I got it. The problem is this code:

    Make your forums the default ‘Groups’ tab

    function redirect_to_forum() {
    global $bp;
    $path = clean_url( $_SERVER );
    $path = apply_filters( ‘bp_uri’, $path );
    if ( bp_is_group_home() && strpos( $path, $bp->bp_options_nav ) === false )
    bp_core_redirect( $path . $bp->bp_options_nav . ‘/’ );
    }
    add_action( ‘wp’, ‘redirect_to_forum’ );

    I deleted it. It works!

    Aha! Sounds like it wasn’t a BPGR bug after all. I posted a comment on that bp-tricks thread that explains the fix. You can paste the code I gave there right after the
    `global $bp;`
    line in the redirect function.

    Glad it’s sorted out!

    @boonebgorges, the problem is when the user clicked the notification it was too many redirects.

    I did the test this first try:

    When after the user clicked the “Request Membership” button for “Test Group” in the group page, the admin get notification then clicked that and the admin clicked reject button in the Test Group page and the user can see notification and clicked it and it get an error in too many redirects:

    domain/blog/groups/test-group/?n=1forum/forum/forum/forum/forum/forum/forum/forum/forum/forum/forum/forum/forum/forum/forum/forum/forum/forum/forum/forum/forum/

    The problem is this code I found in bp-custom.php:

    `function redirect_to_forum() {
    global $bp;
    if ( empty( $bp->groups->current_group->enable_forum ) )
    return;
    $path = clean_url( $_SERVER );
    $path = apply_filters( ‘bp_uri’, $path );
    if ( bp_is_group_home() && strpos( $path, $bp->bp_options_nav ) === false )
    bp_core_redirect( $path . $bp->bp_options_nav . ‘/’ );
    }
    add_action( ‘wp’, ‘redirect_to_forum’ );`

    Can this be fixing?

    Thanks, Mikey3D

    Failure does not mean that you have abandoned me; It does mean that you must have a better idea
