The file contains all the lines for wp, but also for wpmu.

I translated it in french for 2.7 beta without problems; Just take care off many plural forms who need to be translated too…

I’m looking for a bbPress translation who works. Actually, the forums are only half translated. If somebody has a solution ?

Ok, now I can’t edit my old post so here’s how I did it.

I use Poedit and it has a method for updating my current .po file from a .pot file. Just select “Catalog” -> “Update from POT file…” and select the new bp .pot file in the 1.0b2 release.

i’ve translated the latest RC1 language file, but in the site wide activity not all the string are translated, like in Recent Blog Posts… it’s ok or not?

I am using Poedit to translate the BuddyPress file. When I save the file, I always get this error message

Some lines work, and some don’t. Can someone help to correct this error?

I translated 80% done. I uploaded on the web but some lines does not translate at all.

I triple check, make sure I translated that line.

Sorry for jumping in here as this thread seems to have taking so many twists and turns that it appears to have a bit of a different purpose than originally. However, this is the only thread that comes close to answering my, seemingly easy, question but I’m still having issues. Specifically, all I’m trying to do is to change the word ‘Friends’ to ‘Contacts’ throughout the entire WPMU/BP install and not truly translate anything. Per suggestions from a few posts earlier in this thread I’ve done the following:

1. changed the references to ‘Friend’ to contacts in the buddypress.po file using poedit

2. saved the file changed in #1 as en_US.po and generated the corresponding en_US.mo file upon saving

3. uploaded both the .po/.mo file into both the /wp-content/languages and /wp-content/mu-plugins/bp-languages folders

4. verified that ‘American English’ was now available/set in the ‘Site Admin – Option’ and ‘Settings – General’ sections of the site.

5. change the ‘WPLANG’ setting in the wp-config.php file to en_US

and ….

nothing has changed. What am I missing here? I know it must be me but this seems to be an awful lot of hoops to go through to make a seemingly easy and I would think common change. I’ve been at this for some time now so any clues anyone can provide would ease my frustration a bit. Thank in advance.

About to start a danish translation of BuddyPress. Currently considering to use either LaunchPad or Pootle as our collaboration tool.

Anyone know if Dreamcolor expects to initiate the LaunchPad project:

https://translations.launchpad.net/buddypress or release the ownership, for others to use it?

Suggestion: why don’t we settle on the same tool to use, eg LaunchPad – would make it easier for other to take part of the work.

I’ve created buddypress-xxx.po and .mo files, put them in both /wp-content/plugins/buddypress/languages and /wp-content/mu-plugins/bp-languages

I’ve also added the following code to /wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-custom.php:

Despite that, I’m still not getting any change in language on the site at all.

Am I missing something?

This will be fixed in 1.0.1. There is a patch for this in the trunk.

In the meantime, try adding this to your functions.php file for your theme(s).
