Turn off “Request Membership” in Category groups

    Hi All,
    Can anyone please tell me how to turn off the “request membership” in the category groups? The category groups were only set up to organize the other groups and I keep getting requests from user to join?
    Can this be done by deleting something in the source code? Thanks.
