Tweetstream (twitter plugin) Beta testers needed!

  • Oh, sorry about that last post! I was wrong, you musn’t activate this plugin globally.

    The reason I though that you had to was because the tweetstream-settings link doesn’t show up in the buddypress navigation-bar on the top of the page if you are on a wpmu-blog (like http://blog.testbp.org)

    You need to be on the start page to see it.

    Just tested this in WP3.0a – works wonderfully. The best Twitter/activity stream partnership yet.

    The only thing I would change is the first bit of dialogue to setup twitterstream at user accounts. some typos and not all that clear.

    thanks!

    Are you using the filter in TweetStream? If you are using a filter and choose NO to “Show Filter in Tweets” it creates a duplication issue.

    @bloackphantom I suppose this could be fixed by testing for duplication using the $tweet[‘id’] instead of check_exists_by_content.

    @blackphantom Hmmm – strange thing. Yesterday it just worked fine, now, no tweets are coming in to BP anymore… I think it stopped, when I uploaded my localization. Could that (a translation) cause that?

    @mmeida

    @geoffm33: no, I’m not using filters.

    @blackphantom you want me to do a rewrite of the prompt for you to help you out? I can’t develop but I can string a few quippy sentences together!

    @mmeida, what for double tweet imports do you get? all tweets or only forum related tweets?

    @geoffm3, will see what i can do with the tweet id’s because its a 2 way traffic i don’t always know the tweet id’s. But i will find a way ;)

    @thecorkboard, if you want to cool :) i send you my e-mail by p.m.

    Wanted to work on the plugin but my server is down :( have to wait till its up again.

    Hope to release a new version with some fixes tomorrow night.

    I was thinking more for the Twitter > BP traffic. You are using check_exists_by_content to compare the tweet to be inserted into bp_activity with the existing activity in the table. In this process you’ll already have the twitter id of the activity and can test against the secondary ID field (which is indexed).

    @blackphantom: not forum, just live status tweets.

    I have activated Tweetstream. I also set up the API keys, everything. But on the profile page, when I click “authorize with Twitter”, I only get a code, and I can’t continue. How do users activate this?

    @hotdvl666, did you setup the callback url when you created the app on twitter? (and not client but browser type)

    I have a similar to hotdv1666 issues and have checked and double checked but can’t see where I have gone wrong.

    Clean live test site 2.9.1.1/bp2.1

    Twitter app set up correctly, browser type, correct callback. Keys entered in twitterstream settings.

    Log in as a user and clicking on ‘Authorize with twitter’ sends me to an error page:

    Woah there!

    This page is no longer valid. It looks like someone already used the token information you provided. Please return to the site that sent you to this page and try again … it was probably an honest mistake.

    The url to this page is devoid of possible required parameter ?

    /authorize?oauth_token=

    I feel as though I’m missing some crucial understanding of how this is meant to work, but can see no other parameters that I have missed or misconfigured?

    @blackphantom Update to my latest post: They came in – probably 15h later… Now the tweets from BP –>Twitter don’t seem to work anymore (or maybe they just take as long…?)

    Would be great, to have that fixed :-) – or faster…

    * Fixed double tweet import (now checking with tweet_id)

    * Added localisation

    * Language files added:

    – english

    If you translate please send me a pm. so i can add new language files to new versions.

    running wp 2.9.1 with bp 1.2, tweetstream 1.1.5

    I am also getting the error that hnla is receiving above:

    Woah there!

    This page is no longer valid. It looks like someone already used the token information you provided. Please return to the site that sent you to this page and try again … it was probably an honest mistake.

    I have created the twitter app, and input both of the keys. I did set the callback url when creating the application.

    I get this error when I go into my profile/settings and try to click the twitter button to activate it for me.

    Well tried with a newly set up account to test this and same results.

    @blackphantom

    Can you shed any light on this for myself and Anointed. We seem to be the only ones to have experienced this issue so we must be doing something wrong but still can’t see quite what.

    @blackphantom

    @hnla,@anoited : Hmm the problem over there is that it seems that the keys in the admin are missing…

    Check the tweetstream settings in the admin page.

    @blackphantom

    “keys in admin are missing”

    No this is definitely not the case, I really would have spotted that :-)

    Perhaps in some way the keys are not being stored ? but would need to access the DB to check that. Any other ideas?

    @blackphantom, great work! Wanted to point out that “Options (Otions) is misspelled at the top of the user profile settings.

    @blackphantom nope, I am absolutely positive that I have both the key fields filled in on the admin page. I even created new apps with new keys to test it out, but it made no difference. I still get the error when clicking the profile tweetstream user link.

    Here is a screenshot of the admin area:

    I tried to load the latest version of Tweetstream (1.1.6), but I got the same error I had before with v.1.1.4:

    Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_CONST, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or ‘}’ in /var/www/vhosts/……/wp-content/plugins/tweetstream/twitter/EpiCurl.php on line 4

    I tried deactivating all plugins except Buddypress, but that didn’t help.

    @bnt76

    @snark the T function syntax error is commonly associated with versions of PHP are you running PHP4 on your hosting by any chance?

    If so swap it out for PHP 5.
