Updating avatar programtically

    Is there a function I can use to update a user’s avatar? From what I could find that avatar isn’t stored in the DB, and it’s just a file in the wp-content/uploads/avatars, but maybe there’s still a function I can do this with ….

    bp_core_avatar_handle_upload()

    but it’s part of a larger sequence of functions and may not work properly on it’s own.

    look through plugins/buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-avatars.php
