I’m a newbie to BP Docs and wondering whether you have any advice about how to resolve a bug in BuddyPress Docs 1.4.5 or my deficiency in making it work:

I installed and activated it in a FirmaSite theme at Bluehost, and managed to create a Doc that is listed on the wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=bp_doc page, but when I click on the Doc’s title, I get only to the page where I can edit it, not to the actual Doc page.

When after editing it, I click on Update, then on the “View Doc” button, i get to a new page with this message: “Nothing Found. It seems we can’t find what you’re looking for. Perhaps searching can help.”

So, I did a search on one of the words in the Doc’s title, and it turned up a mini-square version of it, with its title being a hyperlink. However, when I clicked on that link, again, I got the “Nothing Found” page.

That’s truly puzzling do you or anybody else has a clue what could have gone wrong and how to try yo fix it?

Do you have ‘pretty permalinks’? This is a buddypress requirement.

Alternatively have you re-saved your permalinks ( just visiting the permalinks should do the trick but if not try saving them again )

Failing that more info about your setup might be helpful: http://buddypress.org/support/topic/when-asking-for-support-2/

Aces, thanks for the advice! I didn’t know about ‘pretty permalinks’. Following your tip, I turned that feature on by changing the permalink settings to “Post Name,” after which I created a Page that did get correctly displayed.

Unfortunately, BP Doc pae that I created earlier still doesn’t show up. However, now a last I have a clue what to play and experiment with. Next, I will create a fresh BP Doc page to see whether that makes a difference.

Well, I did create a fresh BP Doc page and deleted the old one, after having switched to “pretty permalinks” but when I click on the “View Doc” button, the result is still “Nothing Found.”

Can the reason be that I still have only a temporary URL for the site (including my IP address) while waiting for my proper domain name to propagate from the registrar to my WP host? If not, I’m clueless again. Any opinion, anybody?
