URL shortener for twitter updates from buddypress

@Pisanojm is there anyway i can integrate a bit.ly account or any tinyurl service so that when i post an update from buddypress to twitter the url i send is shortened automatically on twitter?
twitter tools plugin does this maybe possible to use code? thanks for any advice on this!
