usernames with spaces & dots

Hei again!
I have a problem: i used WordPress and later i importet all in WordPressMU. That works fine and the old logins works fine, althougt the usernames are with spaces and dotes.
But now with the new url, dosn’t work the buddypress-profilepage (and all other pages), http://doamin.tdl/members/Markus Zeeh/profile/ because the url are based on usernames.
It’s possible to check the usernames for spaces & dotes and rewrite the profile-url? If is not in planning, i need to rewirte all usernames and it will be great to know it
