Welcome Pack Email Problem

Wanted to freshen up this issue by re-posting. Hope that’s ok.

I disabled all other plugins when testing this, and am using WPMU 2.8.4a, BP1.1.1 and bbPress 1.0.2. Found the issue when trying to get Welcome Pack 1.41 working.

When BuddyPress is inactive, and a new user is added via Dashboard>Users>Add New menu, WPMU sends out the new user activation email just fine, and skips it when “skip activation” is selected as it’s supposed to. When BuddyPress Plugin is active, WPMU sends out a broken activation email for new users, even when “skip activation” is selected. Email breaks at the link you’re supposed to click. So there seems to be a problem with the WPMU activation email when BuddyPress is active.

    Pertinent info:

There are 2 places in the WPMU Dashboard an admin can add a new user. Further up in the Site Admin>Users menu, and further down in Users>Add New. Welcome Pack is only activated if a user is added from the further down Users>Add New menu. This is the email that breaks, email works fine from Site Admin>Users menu, but Welcome Pack won’t activate from there.

Glitch is only present when BuddyPress is active.

    Any ideas?

  • I’m seeing this, too. I just tried a fresh install of WPMU (2.8.4a) and tested Dashboard > Users > Add User (worked fine, email arrived intact).

After installing and enabling BuddyPress 1.1.1, doing the same thing to Add User results in a borked email:

    Yep exactly.

There’s a Trac ticket for this, and I remain to be convinced this is a Welcome Pack issue.

Except the problem persists without welcome pack even being activated; I tested with buddypress being the only active plugin and the email broke as stated above when buddypress is activated; did not break when buddypress was inactive.
