The next version of Welcome Pack I intend to release, barring any bug fix releases in the interim, will be for BuddyPress 1.3. It will build on and enhance the customise email options as the current implementation is pretty basic (this is dependant on code which will be in the BuddyPress 1.3 release).

    Hey Paul,
One plugin I love but isn’t compatible with a single WP/ BP install is ‘Automatic Follow Up Emails’ which is a WPMUDEV plugin.

If you could implement something like that into Welcome Pack you would have a killer app.
The plugin sends new members auto generated emails over the first x amount of time after they register.
So over the first week, a new member can automatically receive a string of welcome and tutorial emails, making them feel a really important part of the community and well looked after.

What do you think, is this a possibility in the future?
    Cheers
    Ross :)

Are these emails scripted, or are they more like digests of recent activity?

    They are scripted Paul.

    they can be customised by the site admin to inform new users of all of the features of a site. rather than having one MASSIVE email with loads of info on, the auto follow up emails can be set up to send out for example;

Welcome email 1 on day 1
    FAQ’s email on day 2
A feature of a site email on say day 4
A welcome summary to check in on a member on day 7

It just gives a little extra support to new members and can be used to get a lot of info across in bite size chunks rather than at once.

The WPMUDEV ‘Auto Follow Up Emails’ plugin is MU only so single install WP/ BP installs are crying out for this kind of functionality and I think ‘Welcome pack’ could nail it.

    Let me know you thoughts,
    Ross :)

I’m trying to find a neat way of implementing this, rather than lots (and lots) of text boxes. I’ll revisit this for a future version (perhaps Welcome Pack 2.3).
