What is this widget & social my site?!

My site is http://www.TooToned.com and I really need to make it look much more “social” as at the moment I feel it looks too much like a standard blog/article site!
On this site, what is the widget in the right sidebar, which brings up different activities that is happening throughout the site? E.g. “Ben and Dave are now friends…” etc.
It scrolls through and looks great.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can also make my site look much more “social” such as how I can create a log in page more similar to that on Facebook, with a large log in area in the centre of the page?
