Where is user avatar upload?

I might be a total idiot, but I can’t find this.
I’ve searched Google and found a lot of posts from this forum, but none related. The search function of this forum is hopeless, so please don’t direct me to it (do I really need to look through every post from large threads that are not relevant?)…

Anyhew, the thing is, when I try to edit a profile and click on Change avatar, it just directs me to Gravatar. I don’t want to use Gravatar, my users are not tech savvy and won’t understand the reason to register to another site just to get an avatar.

Please help!

You might find google search better. Preface your query with site:buddypress.org to search this site only. ie site:buddypress.org change avatar

The gravatar upload works for me with bp 1.7.2. I can click on browse and then the upload button. Once uploaded I can crop the image.

Have you tried the usual troubleshooting of disabling all plugins and changing theme to either bp default or 2012 and see if it works. If so then re-enable individually until you find the culprit….

Is it supposed to be there with the Gravatar option? Because I think it’s weird that I get the Gravatar option but not an upload option.

Have you allowed your users to upload an avatar?
