WordPress global language not displaying in BuddyPress intallation

I have WordPress installation in Spanish… several days back the BuddyPress plugin did appear to be in Spanish. But for some reason not it is back in English (while the WordPress is still in Spanish).

I have tried following this page:
http://codex.buddypress.org/user/translations/
But did not manage to change the language

Any ideas on how to change the language settings?

I got it working by following this solution:
http://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/83298/buddypress-language-files-question

Basically: Had to add put the downloaded .mo and .po files in the main WordPress language folder:
`/wp-content/languages`

With the following file names:
`buddypress-es_ES.mo
buddypress-es_ES.po`

Kudos to ischnura! You saved my life! I had exactly same problem and been really tired. I asked similar question on this forum and nobody answered. I even wanted to hire someone on freelancer sites to have it fixed and didn’t find any suitable coder. I was desperate! A company that i bought the theme didn’t help me either because they obviously didn’t know how to solve the issue. Now i feel really relieved. Thank you very much for posting your solution here.

@Paul, the plugin that you suggest is unfortunately not useful for those who work with rare languages.
i can’t express how much i appreciate for ischnura for posting the solution. You’re the man (or woman) !
