Yes, that’s because the version on the WordPress SVN isn’t compatible with BP 1.5.

You would have to place the code in the innermost that is rendering the individual items. Post a copy of your template file, and a link to a page showing the problem.

Also note that BP-Media 0.1.9 has built-in content rating functions that integrate with and/or emulate what you’re trying to do.
