As far as I can tell, Mingle is a straight out of the box social plug in. You just install and activate it, it does the rest.

There just isn’t the features that Buddypress has. Unfortunately, I’m a complete wordpress newbie (i left joomla for wordpress and I love it) and I’m unsure if you can just deactivate mingle and activiate buddypress…will i still have my users and their information?
