So now if a new third-party plugin you add decides to use the word Forum, that will also be translated. I think this is a better approach.</p>

Take a look at this example below which has 4 cases. Feel free to add or remove cases yourself. The number of cases you use will depend on the number of words or phrases you need to change.</p>

<p>You would use <code>bp_messages_update_meta()</code> and <code>bp_messages_get_meta()</code> to add data to and retrieve data from the table. One approach could be to add the user&#8217;s ID once the message is viewed and display some kind of indicator on the page to the rest of the message participants.</p>
