<p>I&#8217;m trying to do exactly the same thing but the plugin linked above doesn&#8217;t work when you have buddypress installed.</p>
<p>Wordpress can use the user &#8220;nicename&#8221; as the url &#8211; but for some reason the profile page breaks whenever there is a dash (&#8220;-&#8220;) in that field.</p>
