Read the post I made on it so you know what I did and the limitations (as well as my disclosure of the fact that, as I said earlier here, I’m a PHP and WordPress noob so if it doesn’t work in all situations don’t be surprised). Simple yet effective, and really opens the door for incentivizing use of BuddyPress… or even encouraging action (such as volunteer efforts being organized via a BuddyPress website)! I’m personally using a BuddyPress website for the latter case, and this saved a lot of time that would’ve been spent in custom…[Read more]

I found it after doing some searching… it doesn’t inject the forum into the “home” tab itself, but it would let you rearrange everything so Forums come up first (and make “home” not even appear at all if you want from what it looks like).

I was able to get it 100% working, but only by hacking into it a bit and changing the way some of it worked. I’ve been trying to get a hold of the developer here and on the actual wordpress plugin page to see if he can take the changes, review them, and put them in so we can get this plugin back on track.

By “more elegant”, I meant more elegant than my total hack I made earlier, not more elegant than the plugin itself or anything like that… just to clarify. =) It was mostly just reshuffling existing code to fire upon registration instead of activation.

Okay, I have a fix that is significantly more elegant. Auto group/blog adding still isn’t working right, but now the membership restriction is working without the end user having to do any code changes… so basically it’s 1/3 of the way to fulfilling all of its intended features again.

Well, there’s more to it now that I’m looking more closely. It looks like there was some kind of “hook” that was supposed to happen after activation. Still looking into it, but it does more than just set bprwg_status. I think this needs to get hooked into the post user creation process somehow so it can do what it does at activation during the…[Read more]

Aha! Okay, so I absolutely needed this working… and I figured out the problem.

You see, all this infrastructure was created in this plugin to handle what would happen if the user had this metadata setting called ‘bprwg_status’ set to a value such as ‘activated’, ‘denied’, etc…
