<p>If this is happening with the standard Twenty Twelve theme and no plugins activated (aside from BuddyPress or bbPress) then it seems as though BP could perform housekeeping tasks a little better in this situation. Feel free to open a <a href="https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/" rel="nofollow ugc">Trac</a> ticket to notify the core developers of the problem.</p>
