I’ve had multiple plugins affect the functionality of the Avatar and avatar crop feature, with the only solution turning them off. There needs to be a better way of isolating problems concerning jQuery.

@jenyus Do you have any other plugins installed that might affect the bp-adminbar? If so, try deactivating them to see if there is a conflict.
