@nanaimomen The problem is more like the theme is using a proprietary templating system. BuddyPress works in nearly all WordPress themes. Regular WP tags like the_title() and the_content() should be in the theme’s page.php file for the BP Theme Compatibility magic to work, i.e., you no longer need to revise 16 template files manually like before.…[Read more]

@nanaimomen just tested it in BP 1.7.2 install. That code would bring back the Buddybar of yore and not the current BuddyPress links integrated into the WP toolbar.

If you did want BuddyBar back then check:
– Did you place the code posted above in a new flle named bp-custom.php ?
– Did you upload that file into your server wp-content/plugins/ folder ?

Put the code in either bp-custom.php or in your themes functions.php

@nanaimomen You can grab a copy of this enhanced login and bp sidebar me widget- it has a few additions over what was normally found in the older bp version:

You could try something like this approach:

@nanaimomen

It’s easy to display profile fields in the Dashboard.

For example:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/16485925/extra-profile-field-not-showing-in-wordpress-user-profile/16491050#16491050

Editing the fields on that screen requires additional custom work.
If that is something you need, please go to
http://www.philopress.com/services/

@nanaimomen
That is standard behavior. To look or edit their profile fields you would have to be an admin and do it from the front end. Go to the members page, click on the member and note how the toolbar changes to give the admin options.
