So, did a little research, and Codex says:</p>

<p>So BuddyPress could check whether the <code>remove_signups_from_user_query</code> method was called through the <code>admin_init</code> hook and return if so:</p>

<p>I wanted to integrate my plugin with BuddyPress activity stream, but a PHP notice is being thrown when BuddyPress is activated and my plugin is preforming an upgrade routine.</p>
<p>Not the end of the world, but I&#8217;d like to understand why, and fix it. I&#8217;m totally new to BuddyPress development.</p>
