    OK,
    I don’t want bbpress forum replies to show up on Buddypress activity stream. I have researched this problem for days and cannot find a solution. I have tried 3 different plugins and they do not work anymore. I have come across this question multiple times but no one seems to give a clear answer. This question has gone back a least 9 years. I find it hard that Buddypress or bbpress has not found a solution to this problem. Please help!!!

    For bbPress questions, please use the bbPress forums.

    @cmsplay Glad it worked out for you 😀

    Re font size smaller, just add the following just under themargin-bottom: 24px; :
    font-size: 12px; // or whatever size you want

    In general, the key difference is the focused discussion and engagement found using Group Forums with the bbPress forums. Just like you see here in our support forums. The good thing is that bbPress plugin has the same lead developer and you can be assured of the seamless integration between BuddyPress and bbPress.

    BuddyPress Sitewide/Group Activity streams are automatically generated content on all actions happening sitewide/group like a new member joining the group, member status updates, new forum topics (if bbPress is activated) etc. See https://codex.buddypress.org/administrator-guide/activity-streams/ So while you can , favorite, delete, or comment on each generated activity update, you can see it’s miles different from having a forum in your site.

    I hope that helps you and good luck on your BuddyPress community!

    mercime thank you so! much. IT WORKED! :-))

    Just need to find a way to make the font size in activity posts one size smaller though.

    Not really sure what the difference between BuddyPress Groups with Activity boards and bbPress – from what I’ve read they both seem to be methods to do the same thing and BP Groups uses bbPress for its own fora. Is there a key difference folks?

    Thanks again mercime.

    I already mapped the pages in the mentioned settings.

    Do I really need to install bbPress for a forum? I thought BP would be a forum too. Am I wrong?

    @sandaap
    Try to map your pages with setting >> BuddyPress >> Pages
    For topics and forums install bbPress.

    I would like to create some member only spaces on blogs in a network where the base site runs BuddyPress. Specifically, I would like the network blog to enable me to create a walled garden where members can interact with each other, vote in polls, and (most importantly) edit and control their list membership(s) so I can email them.

    I am happy enough to do some coding if need be, so I don’t necessarily need a pure plugin solution but as non-technical users own blogs in the network, I need the solution to be something they could use too. All while not in any way tripping up the core blog’s BuddyPress which runs with CBOX Classic.

    What do I need to look out for? What is available to me? And can I make BBPress work on subsites without breaking anything?

    Hi there Mercime.

    My site is more than six months old. So it is not new. My theme is the same age. I have not imported any forums.

    Please try to supply answers to the following questions.

    Wordpress Version – 5.4.1
    Buddypress Version – 5.1.2
    bbPress Version – 2.6.4
    Host – Wordplus

    I dont know how long the problem has been there as I never noticed it.

    As mentioned above I can give access to a staging site for you to see. Even if anyone knows how to hide the duplicates I would be grateful.

    Thank you

    @shonty Is this a new installation or is this an old install where you changed from another theme or imported forums from e.g. phpbb to bbPress, etc.?

    Just like shanebp, I cannot replicate the issue as well.
    Do provide more info about your installation – https://buddypress.org/support/topic/when-asking-for-support-2/

    Hi @cmsplay,

    You can change the bottom margin of the paragraphs by adding the following style in your theme/child theme:

    .activity-list .activity-item .activity-content p {
        margin-bottom: 24px;  /* Or whatever size you want */
    }

    As for the forums, bbPress is compatible with BuddyPress. See https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/

    I’ve taken the files from bp-default, placed them in my child theme in a folder called “buddypress”.

    (screenshot from cpanel of folder configurations, dalaran is my theme name https://i.imgur.com/UiFSEln.png)

    Things to note:
    – Child theme is activated
    – bbpress works, as well as my edits to the bbpress HTML
    – I’ve tried to reinstall buddypress, and the child template

    I’ve followed the guides, although severely outdated, made a working Frankenstein’s monster from it.

    Can you visually see anything I could be missing?

    Line beaks are not appearing properly on the BP Group Activity posts I’ve set up. They look fine before submitting, and then all the paragraphs get stuck together once the post is published..

    Is there a way of stopping return carriages from being corrupted in this way, and, (better still), is there a way to add a TinyMCE Editor to BP Group Activity posts?

    If this does not work, I might have to delete BP Groups altogether and just use bbPress instead.

    @wafadul, the activity will be posted once when the topic or reply is published.
    Any further modification in that specific topic or reply will not update already published activity. You can also check with bbPress support.

    I’m still encountering this issue. Has this been resolved or not yet?

    I have a buddypress site with bbpress and wp ulike (https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-ulike/). If I activate the like possibility on the activity stream page and also in the bbpress the same topic or reply could get independent likes in the topic page and in the activity page.
    Therefore I would like to hide the like button on the activity page only for bbpress related entries, so that likes are only visible and “collected” in the forum topic page. In the same fashion like post comments are disabled in the buddypress settings.
    What would be the easiest way to achieve this?

    bbp_is_single_user_profile() is a bbPress function.
    Use this: bp_is_member()

    Hi Eric,

    Wordpress is built to be expanded using plugins, if you check wordpress.org you’ll find there are thousands of these. BuddyPress and bbPress are two of these plugins and they work really well together. As to whether users can create their own blog pages that is up to you and the permissions you assign but the functionality is all there.

    Thanks. So on the site dogsuniverse.com they might be using a combination of WP, bbPress and BuddyPress? Can that be done on one site? Like use all3? And can users then create their own one page blogs too?
    Thanks.

    Hi there Varun,

    I did as you said and the problem was still there using only Buddypress and bbPress. Any other suggestions?

    Only groups are created in BuddyPress. Blogs are created in WP. Forums are created in bbPress.
    The bbPress forums are here.

    Hi there,

    I am using Activity Stream in Groups.

    The filter is showing “Topics” and “Replies” in the filter twice. I have spoken to bbPress who advised to speak to yourselves. I have tried the Twenty Seventeen theme and it still shows.

    Can someone please help?

    Hello,

    The site to troubleshoot is: planetanim.fr

    I have had an error for a long time and I apologize if it has already been exposed and corrected. And I apologize for my bad English.

    I use buddyPress and bbPress for forums. For private forums, the bbP Private Groups plugin manages them for many reasons.

    The activity of private forums is displayed in BuddyPress activity streams whether users are connected or not, whether they are members of private forums or not. And it’s problematic. I even had to wait until I could solve the problem to suspend the display of the activity stream. Which is a shame.

    If you have an idea, please share it with me.

    The last update March / April 2020, has caused an uncomfortable and inconvenient situation:

    We have been using the LEARNDASH, Bbpress and BudyPress Add-On for months. Excellent until this month ….

    Now…
    1. A second registration form appears (owned by Buddypress), after having used the original LEARNDASH (LMS)
    2. And in addition, a blue button began to appear above the section “Course content) that does not serve or does not fulfill its functionality.

    This affects the functionality of the LMS and service to those who wish to register. And LearnDash offers both Add-ons, Bbpress, Buddypress

    You should consider this with LearnDash and repair this so that we have the option to skip a second registration form, the one that belongs to Buddypress.

    Easy To Make has also written to LEARNDASH, but they say this is from Buddypress.

    Unfortunately we have decided for the moment to disable Bbpress and Budypress, until this is fixed.

    Thank you! CEASE
