MemberCan you clarify…does this plug-in work with BuddyPress/WPMU? The installation instructions seem to be for WordPress in general, not MU. And I saw in another forum that this plug-in breaks WPMU.
Can you verify that it works with BuddyPress? If so, can you provide installation instructions?
Thanks.

MemberI’m not sure what you mean. It’s possible for users to choose traditional WordPress themes for their blogs, while using BuddyPress themes for the BuddyPress-related stuff. I struggled with this too, but if you read the instructions for the individual theme downloads, it makes more sense. The instructions for the package download don’t exactly make it clear.
So, I’ve got a BuddyPress home theme with its own name, a BuddyPress member theme (which is required), and then a traditional WP theme I’ve set to “default” (by changing its directory name to “default”), which is the default things for user blogs. And I will also have a selection of traditional themes that users can switch their blogs to.
Good luck!

MemberThanks Andy for the link. I do find it a bit confusing how the current themes are working.
If I understand it correctly, all the “My Account” pages are defined in the user theme, while they should be, in mine opinion at least, be in the home theme. The reason why I think this, is because it are all pages which aren’t linked to the users blog. Most people probably want to give these pages the same look and feel as the home page.
For the user themes, I would expect to only find things which are related to the users blog.
Personally I would like to give my members a selection of themes where they can choose from for their blog, so they can individualize it a bit. As far as I have been able to figure out, that isn’t possible yet.
When you would have the possibility for members to select a theme for their blog, it would only make more sense to have all those pages like the “My Account” pages in the home theme.
But that’s just my 2 cents. I would love to read your opinion about it.

How do I Update my home theme as suggested?

ParticipantAFAK aka AFAIK usually means “as far as I know”. Forums are already in the 1.0 release, but none of the original posters other points. They area actually all being addressed by plugins with the exception of internal photo galleries which are coming after the 1.0 release. There is flickr plugin on buddypressdev.org though as well as Youtube. The invite system is there, but not finished yet.

ParticipantHere is what I have loading:
‘<?php wp_enqueue_script(‘jquery-ui-core’); ?>
<?php wp_enqueue_script(‘ui.datepicker’, get_stylesheet_directory_uri() . ‘/library/custom/js/1.5.3/ui/ui.datepicker.js’, array(‘jquery’), 0.1); ?>
<?php wp_enqueue_script(‘council-contact-intake’, get_stylesheet_directory_uri() . ‘/library/custom/js/council-contact-intake.js’, array(‘jquery’), 0.1); ?>
<?php wp_enqueue_script(‘autotab’, get_stylesheet_directory_uri() . ‘/library/custom/js/autotab.js’, array(‘jquery’), 0.1); ?>’
Most of my jQuery is using the UI libs for showing/hiding stuff based on what the user is doing on the form. What’s the best way to do this to ensure that I don’t nuke BP? With BuddyPress installed, what’s the best practice for me handling my jQuery needs?
Thanks!

ParticipantI now see where you’re coming from. The BuddyPress Forum settings state:
“To enable forums for each group in a BuddyPress installation, you must first download, install, and setup bbPress and integrate it with WordPress MU.
Once you have bbPress set up correctly, enter the options below so that BuddyPress can connect.”
Well, I’ve turned the integration off but can still post. I need to look at this some more.

ParticipantThe install docs tell us that we need to follow the directions in:
/mu-plugins/buddypress-theme/readme.txt
to get the themes in the right spots.

ParticipantThe widget titles are hardcoded at the moment. Which one do you want to change? Here’s the pattern for each:
Members widget – /mu-plugins/bp-core/bp-core-widgets.php
Lines 12/13 :
register_sidebar_widget( __('Members', 'buddypress'), 'bp_core_widget_members');
register_widget_control( __('Members', 'buddypress'), 'bp_core_widget_members_control' );Change ‘Members’ to ‘Whatever’
If you have them running already they will disappear from the backend and your theme. Just put put them back again.

ParticipantThat’s very reassuring that you’re using dsaders privacy plugin, too. Nice to see such a simple solution already exists to provide private BuddyPress communities while not affecting the privacy of individual’s blogs. In education, I can see this being very attractive. Hopefully Andy is aware of this for future core feature development.

ParticipantLOL
This is exactly what I was coming over to ask about.
I’ve been searching high n low for a script or set of scripts that would allow me to run a ‘ning’ type network on my servers. For now I would be happy to just have the type of features these sites have, but I can see extending it to offer subnets like ning does.
So far I have yet to find any piece of software that I can purchase that allows users to have blogs/photo’s/video’s (upload with conversion through ffmpeg, not youtube links etc), forums/social groups etc.
It seems that buddypress may well someday be the closest, enless there is a whole other field of professional software that I am unaware of

InactiveI have a text file in the root of my BP installation with the revision in it. When I upgrade, I changed the revision in the file. All I have to do is call the file in my browser and voila. I do the same with WPMU.
