For the recently active widget. Ive been digging for a while looking through the bpcore, bpcoretemplatetags, the bpcoreavatar etc but I cant find where the term ‘avatar’ is asigned to the avatar images. I would like to change this to a more suitable word mainly for SEO purposes and one that would fit more with the content of my site.

Any ideas?

I don’t think this is the solution I am looking for? All I am looking to do is change the

I want to find the file within buddypress or wordpress that defines the default alt value and change it.
Unless your method does this and I have overlooked it?

Don’t bump your posts until nearer 48 hours after posting.

The widget uses bp_get_member_avatar(). (bp-core-templatetags.php, about line 314). I would not recommend changing a core file because it will be lost when you upgrade to a new version of BuddyPress.

This topic was discussed quite a while ago and a ticket created? for more meaningful alt atts for avatars and has been addressed for 1.3 with avatars now saying ‘alt=”profile picture of …”‘ or ‘alt=”Group logo of…'” so if you can wait for 1.3 to drop ?

Am interested in this too – anyone know of a hook to work around this until the 1.3 “drops”? Any idea when the 1.3 is due out?

1.3? Couple of weeks, tops. Beta 2 is coming out today? (or tomorrow).
