BP 1.5 Compatibiltiy
Has anyone figured out what needs to be done to make this one compatible with 1.5? I can aggregate the content of the main activity feed (viewing only the people I am following), but the Followers and Following menu items on my Profile have disappeared. Is this an easy fix, or an @apeatling fix?
When I hit Edit Post I get a “Page not Found” error. I guess “compatibility” will need to stay mis-spelt.
I imagine core team or a kind, smart, generous volunteer will make it 1.5-compat. Because it’s used on this site
Stop imagining and make it happen. Hey volunteers! Who wants to do the job?!?
While that volunteer is working away (I wish I had the ninja skills to be that guy) they might want to look at the links that appear under the Following and Followers page on the profile. If would seem that if you follow more than a page worth of people, the links to page two and beyond don’t work. The tab registers activity with the little swirly wheel thingamabob, but doesn’t actually go anywhere. IF I right click and open in a new tab or window, the link works (if I hover over the link it appears correctly in the activity bar that appears at the bottom of some browsers), and if I type in the link it works adding “/?upage=2” to the end of “domain.com/members/jarbenne/following/” This isn’t specifically a 1.5 issue, I’ve looked back on 1.2.8, and 1.2.9 and the issue exists.
Further info. The Following listing on the Members Directory page DOES work, so it’s really a profile page problem, where in 1.2 versions the navigation to deeper pages fails, and in 1.5, the entire menu for both followers and following disappears.
Has there been any update regarding BP 1.5 compatibility?
I’m trying to find the solution, but no luck as of yet.
Spotting lots of issues now. Profile activity stream only shows people I’m following. i.e. ‘Personal’ & ‘Mentions’ just show all the activity of people I’m following. As @mrjarbenne said no Following or Followers pages or tabs.
Feels like there’s a lot of plugin catching up to do before 1.5 becomes an option for most people.
Is there going to be fixing for BuddyPress 1.5?
@mikey3d – Like Boone stated, a volunteer needs to spend a couple of hours out of their schedule to update it and release it. I was about to update this plugin for a project, but they decided they liked the friends feature better.
Great plugin, would like to use it. I’m sure my developer can fix it up. I can make it happen if a few people are prepared to contribute, or is that a dirty word in this forum? lol
Anyone know exactly what needs to be done for the compatibility?
I’m not sure how the community looks at discussions like this, but it certainly doesn’t seem to be getting me anywhere just hoping and praying. I sent @r-a-y a message, hoping he could take the “couple hours” he reference above to make the appropriate fixes (for a fee, o course).
No offense intended, but I would probably be more prone to contribute before the work has been accomplished to a dev like @r-a-y who’s work I use, and who contributes to core. I’m honestly still somewhat hopeful that someone from the BP team will take this up, given it is a plugin that is active and BROKEN on buddypress.org. If you do happen to fix it, I would be in for a donation after the fact: it’s the one thing keeping me from updating from 1.5.
Oh, smart, generous volunteer mentioned by @djpaul, are you out there somewhere? Can I follow you bug-free on 1.5?
More “really broken” tips. In 1.2.10, on the Activity Stream, if you choose Following, the “Load More” button just loads the initial content duplicated over again. In 1.5 clicking the Following has no effect on aggregating the list.
On the Members page, even if you follow people, clicking on the Following Button results in an empty list.
Starting to contemplate Friending, but it’s a cyberbullying minefield in an elementary classroom. “Friend” has an emotional connotation “Follow” does not.
Hey @mrjarbenne – for some reason, I did not receive your at-mention notification. (Your mention isn’t listed in my activity mention stream either.) I just replied to the message you sent me.
That’s odd @r-a-y . I didn’t get your response. Checked junk and spam too. Can you try again?
@apeatling will you please update this to use buddypress 1.5 ?? i’m unable to upgrade buddypress as i’m sure others are without this plugin being compatible
Hello. Any update to this plugin for 1.5? And if there’s a place I can donate to make it happen, point me in that direction. I’d also like a Follow option for my site, rather than a friend-to-friend connection. Thanks!
Any news on this? I installed it and was excited to see the tab there, but unfortunately, all the bugs reported above were present (not filtering the followers unless you refreshed, etc.). If this plugin doesn’t work, I’m probably going to just have to figure out a solution that doesn’t involve Buddypress at all. While I think it offers some great out-of-the-box stuff, but not being able to follow is a deal-breaker.
@ds123 sorry I missed your reply.. I asked my developer once but he didnt have a thorough look and I personally not sure how much work is involved. I know it will be 25 per hour, how many hours could it take, 3 or 4 max? If you guys want to jump in, I will get in touch with him today to give me an accurate estimate.
