Bugs after moving install to secondary blog

    Hi all,

    I have WPMU 2.8.6 and BuddyPress 1.1.3. http://www.threesheetsnw.com

    Recently, I moved BuddyPress from my main blog (using the old two-theme system) to a secondary blog.

    Much of the functionality seems to be working fine, but several issues cropped up.

    First, private messaging doesn’t seem to work. When typing in a username or friend’s name, the address never loads.

    Second (and possibly related) when inviting a friend to join a group, the invite never arrives.

    Third, none of the avatars previously uploaded are displaying. I can reupload the avatar and it works fine.

    There maybe more things, but that’s what I’m struggling with at the moment.

    Thanks.

    Oh, and I’m using a slightly modified version (some CSS changes) of the default them on the secondary blog (www.threesheetsnw.com/raftup).

    I could see why that wouldnt work, as buddypress is build on wpmu and every blog you make is basicly a seperate wordpress install. So for example the users that were automatically subscribers on your wpmu blog aren’t automatically subscribers on all the blogs on your wpmu install.

    WordPress itself has problems with relocating it’s position, a lot of changes need to be made and since buddypress is build on wordpress, buddypress has these problems now as well.

    I don’t really get why your placing buddypress in a sub blog, you can easily change the buddypress theme to your liking if that’s the problem.

    @DJPaul,

    yes, i did set the BP_ROOT_Blog

    @Xevo

    The reason is that we are primarly a magazine site and we’ve tweaked our theme accordingly. I though moving to secondary blog would allow for easier integration of the new fuctionality and I don’t mind two different (but similar) themes.

    I tried assigning several folks on the main blog as subscibers to the secondary blog. But no luck.

    Sorry. I searched yesterday but didn’t find this related and unresolved issues. Sounds similar to mine. Any thoughts?

    When composing a private message, is the javascript being loaded? Look in the page source and copy-and-paste the javascript URL in your browser and see if it loads up a text file.

    Hi DJPaul –

    I cut and pasted this URL from my page source:

    http://threesheetsnw.com/raftup/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-messages/js/autocomplete/jquery.autocomplete.js?ver=2.8.6

    And it returned this file: jquery.autocomplete.js

    Here’s the top of it.

    I gave up on the secondary blog.

    Still having trouble with auto-complete. Will write a separate post.
