    hi

we want to create a digital library with “huge amount of data and content” exactly like to

    https://www.wdl.org/

    with additional functionalities :

    1. community ( on our digital contents ) like to buddypress

2.forum ( on our digital contents ) like to bbpress

3.register and create users and define their custom roles with custom access to each front-end and back-end contents

does it possible to implement with WordPress?

and if it is possible , what is your suggestions and best plan? available plugins or custom develop ? if available plugins , which plugins need to buy?

our main challenges are first performance and then security

is WordPress right choose for these purposes?

    best regards

    thanks

It’s certainly doable with WordPress, you will have to take care with the plugins you load in order to manage performance, but this is also down to your host. Difficult to recommend plugins since the wdl site does not have the social aspect, you have a blank canvas for that side of things. Which community features do you plan to use?

features exactly like buddypress features ( with member profiles, activity streams, user groups, messaging, and more. ) users can post content and communicate on content

but with a powerful management users :

Define a variety of user roles

restrict user’s access ( create , read , update , delete ) to all data in front-end and back-end by role and user

For the user management, this would normally tie in with WordPress user capabilities and you’d probably need to write some custom code to tie these in with BuddyPress, it depends what you are looking to do.
