Installation Wizard Failure Due To Doc Confusion

Had three other people go through the installation wizard to install buddypress with site wide forums and each of them failed. I went through it myself and ended up in the same area.

Using the guide here and going all the way to the end works fine:

IMPORTANT: Do not select the “Discussion Forums” component

Now to follow the integration of bbpress using this guide:
http://codex.buddypress.org/user/setting-up-a-new-installation/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/#c-set-up-sitewide-forums-only

Go to wp-admin dashboard menu Settings > BuddyPress > Forums and click on “Install Sitewide Forums”

What’s the confusion? If you do not select discussion forums initially, Settings > BuddyPress > Forums is not available

@intimez the Codex page has been updated. Sorry for the confusion. Basically, you install bbPress via Plugins > Add New https://codex.buddypress.org/user/setting-up-a-new-installation/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/#c-set-up-sitewide-forums-only

Hi @mercime

We went through the steps again and same confusion. My suggestion to them was to skip the instructions here on buddypress for the time being until I can clear it up in this post.

Please correct me if I’m wrong but from what you are saying it should be something like this:

-Follow the steps here: https://codex.buddypress.org/user/setting-up-a-new-installation/installation-wizard/ and make sure “Discussion Forums” component is not selected

-Once the installation is completed, go to Plugins > Add New > and type in bbpress and then click on Install Now

After that, where is the choice to select site wide or group forum since the buddypress component is marked as inactive?
