Major Install Problems with BuddyPress

    @benchola

    I’ve just installed the BuddyPress plugin to my wordpress.org site. I went through the 5 or 6 steps for the set-up process and when I clicked on ‘Finalise and Activate’, I got this:

    Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 30720 bytes) in /home/thebrisb/public_html/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-members/bp-members-functions.php on line 867

    Now, whenever I try and access my site or the admin functions I get the above error message. I am relatively new to all this – so could someone please let me know how I can either:

    (a) fix the problem outlined above so that BuddyPress works; or
    (b) access the admin functions of my site so that I can deactivate the plug-in?

    Any urgent help would be most appreciated.

    Thanks

  • Rename the buddypress plugin folder, this effectively disables BP and will allow you back in. You error message is teling you that you have insufficient script memory, check with your web host to see if you can get your memory raised, also check the WP codex on this matter as it details various actions you can take in addition to contacting/getting your host to adjust things.
